Eat! Vancouver Food Festival

The seventh annual Eat! Vancouver food and cooking festival is this year, and is hosting a wide variety of events, attractions, and of course delicious cuisine. If you have a passion for food or cooking, you owe it to yourself to experience this festival, as it will be offering a huge array of different ways to partake in the festivities, and here we’ll take a quick look at what to expect from the festival.

Some of the featured areas in the Eat! Vancouver festival include the Wellness Pavilion, where chefs will be preparing organic, natural, and fair-trade food for guests to eat, and where there will be all kinds of organic products to purchase. The World Culinary Travel Expo showcases world tourism through regional food, and there will be a collection of chefs and exotic cuisine from around the world. A wine, beer, and spirits tasting will allow those with an appreciation for fine beverages to sample some of the best the world has to offer, and the “Bite of Vancouver” area allows guests to partake in traditional cuisine. There is even a Pets Eat! Too event, where there are sources for cat and dog nutrition, and all kinds of snacks, treats, chews, and other goodies for your companion.

There are also a number of competitions, such as the B.C. Chefs’ Association Culinary Salon Cooking Competition. The competition has a huge variety of categories, from individual luncheons to cheese platters to five course dinners, and has different sections for students and professionals. There are also team entries, where three members can compete together to create a variety of meals. The B.C. Chefs’ Association Chocolate Competition is, of course, a competition for those who enjoy working with chocolate. The theme for this year’s competition is “Thrive for Gold,” with the 2010 Olympics happening in Vancouver. There is also a CityTV Master Chef Competition, where the best chefs from all over British Columbia will be competing for the title of Master Chef, and over one and a half thousand dollars’ worth of master-grade knives and tools.

The various competitions, stages, and events going on all have different flavors and different types of cuisine, but they are all essentially working towards the same goal – to make the Eat! Vancouver festival a celebration of fine cuisine, regardless of where it comes from, and to make the event one that anyone who loves food can enjoy.
