Fun That’s Easy on Your Wallet

If you’re visiting Vancouver on a budget, you’ll be happy to know that there is still a lot to do and see, much of it for dirt cheap, much of it for free. There are a number of great attractions that will entertain young and old, and even if your money is really tight, you can still enjoy plenty of what Vancouver has to offer. Let’s take a look at some of the more popular low-budget attractions in Vancouver.

Stanley Park is perhaps Canada’s most famous park, and has thousands of lush trees, lots of bike paths and walking trails, and beautiful scenery. The Vancouver Aquarium is housed nearby, and the Fish House provides a great place to have lunch. Free trolleys roam the park, and there is even a water park in order to help beat the heat during hot summer months. Granville Island is another popular destination in Vancouver, with an open-air market that sells fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and other foods, and has lots of stands with ready to eat lunches. There is live music, a train museum, as well as arts and crafts for kids to enjoy.

Robson Street is an area of Vancouver that is famous for its shops and cafes, but is certainly pleasant simply to explore. It’s easy to simply take in the sights without having to spend any money, and afterwards you can try making your way to Gastown, the historic old section of Vancouver. Named after a bar owner and steamboat captain called Gassy Jack (so called for his penchant for storytelling and general chattiness), Gastown has authentic cobblestone streets, an ancient steam powered clock, and a statue of Gassy Jack himself.

You can also try checking out one of the many beaches near Vancouver. There are lots of places to enjoy the sand, sun, and ocean, and there are hardly any budget vacations more relaxing than propping up an umbrella and laying down a towel to relax for a couple of hours. There are lots of volleyball courts, ice cream shops, and other attractions near the beach to make it even more relaxing. If all of this isn’t enough for you, the quirky and laid back nature of Vancouver itself will frequently conjure up some adventure or another, and just exploring the city is often a unique experience. Regardless of the budget you’re on, Vancouver can be a great experience.
