Overview

They dedicate their efforts to the conservation of aquatic life through display, interpretation, education, research and direct action. Aquarium staff and Volunteers have been involved in the creation of Canada’s first no-take marine protected area, beach clean-ups, wetlands restorations, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and population surveys of marine mammals and intertidal fish

The aquarium offers many delightful daily events for your enjoyment. Shows include Beluga Training Session, Creatures off our Coast, Discover Reef Sharks, Dolphin Show, Family Program, Harbour Seal Session and Sea Otter Feed. Feature programs are also offered at various times of the day and they include:

Amazon Critter Corner - This is an exciting chance to meet one of the smaller animals that lives here at the aquarium. Learn about why these creepy crawly animals are so amazing and why they are important to us.

Archerfish Feed - Do you think Robin Hood is impressive with his bow and arrow? Archerfish are nature’s Robin Hood! These small Indonesian fish have a talent like no other to find their food in the leaves and branches above the waters surface.

Behind the Birth - Jump in the water with the Marine Mammal trainers to witness the birth of our baby beluga… in high defninition! Taking place in the GoldCorp Ocean Theatre, “Behind the Birth” combines amazing video footage with live interpretation to bring you closer to the birth of a beluga than the public has ever been before.

Frog Critter Corner - Leap into the fantastic world of frogs!

Octopus Feed (NEW) - Discover why these highly intelligent animals have at least eight reasons to be such highly regarded predators.

Touch Pools - Get wet as you dive under the surface for a chance to explore the lives of British Columbia’s invertebrates. You will have the chance to touch a variety of intertidal animals like sea stars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and maybe even sea anemones!

Predator Meets Prey - Science has never been so frightening… or fascinating! Guess which west coast invertebrates are friends and which are foes, and test your theories in this awesome, action-packed experiment.

Sea Turtle Talk (NEW) - Did you know that some sea turtles swim as far North as British Columbia? Come into the Tropic Zone and learn more about Schoona, the resident sea turtle who lives here at the Aquarium. Discover her amazing survival story and some of the obstacles that she and many other turtles face along their long journeys through the ocean.

Snakes in Cold Blood (NEW) - Confront your fear of snakes! Featuring a live ball python, this show examines some popular snake myths and you get to decide whether they are true or false… Are snakes as scary as people think?

Story Time (NEW) - Are you a fan of Mother Goose? Do you love stories or have children that love them? Join in story time in Clownfish Cove. Immerse yourself in a new world with stories that feature ocean animals like dolphins, sharks, hermit crabs and more!
