Hi there!

(i’ve just posted the same post on another forum topic but realised it might fit better here…)

I am considering moving to Canada wth hubby to be and baby son of 21 months. We have visited a few places in Canada (Victoria, Richmond, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Niagra….) and a few others along the way over the past few years but when you visit as a tourist, its difficult to experience the true culture of a city/town.

I suppose my question to you would be - what is the day to day culture and lifestyle like in Vancouver and how would this compare to other places is this hugely diverse country?

I am 27 years old, currently live in Scotland (and yes a highland dancer!) enjoy the outdoors and the countlyside but also enjoy city culture i.e. shopping, coffee, nightlife…

That sounds a bit like a CV! I just want to make sure we choose somewhere that matches our desired lifestyle as its such a big decision to emigrate that I want to make sure I get it right for us.

Thanks for any help

Hi! I am new to this site. I accidentaly stumbled on it when I was searching for wwics on google. Anyway i did read some of the posts and I wanted to contribute my bit to it. I created a new post as I am not able to latch on to the old one. Anyway, I live in toronto and I came here as a student. I was surprised to see the 2 negative comments about senator educational consultants in chennai. I got my admission done in George Brown college through them and I was very happy with thier service, this was two years ago. After that I recommended 5 of my juniors from my college in Coimbatore. When I came, the people from senator arranged my airport pick up and my initial stay arrangements. They even recomended the lawyer (Mr.Green on BAy Street ) through whom i got my PR done. I would also like to mention something, out of the 5 students I recommended, 4 got their visa and 1 was rejected. the reason that the high commission said was that the financial credibility was not there. This person went around town complaining that senator let him down and he said the same thing to me. I couldnt see the logic behind that. The 4 who got their visa are well on their way to their work permit. As far as I know. I met with other students here sent previously and since then by Senator in George Brown as well as in Seneca and Laurentian and no one had any major complaint about the services of senator and associates. To make a long story short, I am happy with the services that I got from senator and there are always going to be people who complain. With regard to the money being taken, I cant see how this is possible as all money is paid to the college except for their service fee. Which is what I did. As another post on the same topic said"People who are ahcieving are not writing anything as they are happy and enjoying life and the people who complain are those who have nothing else to do”. WHiners are evrywhere. Well folks good luck!

It is essentially important for human beings to follow laws and orders without which a man can be brutal enough harm others. It can be easily mentioned that law plays a vital role in arranging the mob in a systematic manner. So, one should never fail to follow laws of any kind, concerning anything.

Rather than using Quantative Easing, or printing money out of thin air, as the US Federal Reserve Bank does all the time, it is important for Canada to bring down the dollar to remain competitive with the US in terms of exports by devaluing the dollar below US dollar. How this can be achieved without Quantitative Easing methods is to loosen up immigration to even the unskilled industry so that they can send money back to their countries. The selling off of the Canadian dollar will help keep it cheap, thus enabling Canada to export to the US which is facing a depression. We need a million more unskilled immigrants to work in the security industry to cut down overtime, and bring in a million nurses to cut down overtime, thus being able to get more nurses for the same money. This will shorten the waiting times when people have to wait in the Triage while they have an open wound. You get improved quality and speed with increased manpower with the same number of dollars. We need the 2 year diploma nurses back, and allow more people into nursing so that they can help more people.

I have been in Canada for 13 years and have had some interesting jobs, the best being teaching for a year. I was also an electrician in British Columbia for a year. My experience as an electrician in Britain is 6 years at the electricity board, ministry of defence and prison service. I also have 10 years experience with electrical contractors. The procedure for applying for an electrician (journeyman electrician) permit in most Canadian provinces involves providing employers signatures. If not available then another option is by way of an affidavit. This is how I gained my BC permit. However, this option is not available in Alberta. My question is how are they going to get trade workers from overseas to go to Alberta if they aren’t going to have this option? Lets lobby our MLAs and find out why. The only explanation I have had is there are more restrictions because of the tar sands. But can anyone say why for sure?

Hi everyone,

I’m coming to this forum to hopefully find some answers and contacts. Indeed, I’m probably coming to Canada (surely to Vancouver to be specific) from France with a friend beginning of next year, with a professionnal project (it’s about music production for companies etc.), but we do not know anyone there nor the legal aspects of creating a company and stuff.

Would anyone of you give me contact details of a good lawyer, a real estate agency and maybe any MSN addresses for who would like to discuss with me directly about Canada and Vancouver.

Thanks anyway.

Hi all,

I will soon land in Vancouver and I am a little confussed as I heard that VAN is not the city for theatre. I acted in my origin country and I would like to do this as a profession. I am talking about theatre not cinema. So, are there any good schools and REAL possibilities for me to get into this ?

If not, what city would you recommend for theatre acting ?

Thanks !
