hi everybody, i am writing from Ukraine. have long experience of financial work, though mostly in non-for profit. English, always has been working for international companies. just discovered that “financial managers” are eligible for “skilled worker”. so, what are the real chances to get a job in Vancouver in this category? my husband is also financial specialist in a banking sector. i would highly appreciate your thoughts and stories. i hope that financial sector and business in general feel better then in Ukraine. we both have jobs here. more over these jobs are well paid. but i do not feel safe here. i don’t want to leave Ukraine to get better compensation for what i do, i just want to do my job in more or less stable and safe conditions. and of course i do want to get appropriate job there. i do not just to change “job with no security” into “security with no job”:) so, please comment and help with your ideas.

I am sure you and your husband are both very good at what you do, but unfortunetly I think your limited english will keep you out of a professional job!

Also we are in the midst of a recession here,so now is not a good time to come here looking for work!

thanks, i was ready for some criticism, but was surprised with the statement about my English:) well, thanks for it anyway, need to work on it. my English was good enough to negotiate many deals and agreements with the English speaking partners outside of Ukraine, so i hadn’t ever looked at it as huge obstacle. my major concern is that the immigration office has listed the financial managers under the skilled worker class for immigration. I fully understand the potential and interest in the other professions like IT and blue collar workers. But why would they want to invite more financial managers? is there a huge demand for this category of specialists? i am also considering application to one of the universities in Canada as another option of getting there. going through Master program should definitely help to get job there. but given a chance to start working in Canada without such investment in my education, I would of course prefer it. part of my goal is to understand what are the situation on your job market for the qualified financial managers in general.
