I think that there needs to be mechanism where single people with no kids should pay into child support to help those who are burdened with child support payments. If someone has 5 kids making 12.00 an hour working regular full time, they may be required to pay as much as $720.00 monthly according to the BC Family Maintenance child support calculator. Imagine if they have student loans on top of that? How are they to survive? This brings to the person a burden of not being able to start a new life having this as a baggage thereby hurting them in finding new mates later on. What I propose is a mechanism where if the NDP were to come back into power, to institute a method of where single people who have more free time and less of a burden than they do to have a collective child support payment plan to help those who are having undue hardship to pay child support. Even if they are able to reduce their payements under the current legislation, the mothers are troubled, having less to receive as a result. If single people with no kids make monthly payments, the those who are facing a burden will benefit. This gives collective responsiblity to ensure the future of Canada’s children, as every child deserves to have their needs met without compromise. I am thinking of pushing for such legislation, but wish to get all of your imput here, as it will affect us all. Let me know.
