My GF’s daughter works at the Coquitlam Centre for a jeweller who’s South Asian and male.

He hired a South Asian guy who behaves traditionally.

So there is mild sexual harassment, but mostly the South Asian style where women are chattel.  They are failing to live up to their citizenship requirements in Canada.

So I’ve offered to come in with my GF one day and observe the social hierarchy there.

Unknown to my GF, I plan to go there today because I have a free day off. I’m going to be out that way (with 25 km) to get an extended life replacement battery for my CrackBerry for $25.

Would I observe the harassment and the social behavior common to South Asian males while there?

The question should be ...what will you do if you see this behavior?

ask your GF’s daughter to tell this asian guy to look himself in the mirror you sick freak.

Mild sexual harassment is still sexual harassment and it is against the law.  This guy can be charged.  But the question is what will you do????  Your GF’s daughter can report this if she chooses to do so.

She is just sick of it, and wants to quit.

But I think she’s really lucky not to experience Arab male behavior and Pakistani male behavior, let alone most East Asian male behavior.

She’s in her mid-30s so much of her peers in school were not South Asians cos, even after Operation Blue Star at Amritsar, Punjab, India in 1984, there was not that much of an influx of Punjabis until the early 90s. Most of the Asians immigrated first to the UK because most of their relatives lived there, mainly Pakistanis.

I still want to arrive early at the jeweller’s to see how the owner and the male salesperson behave around women.

I did try to scope out the place today, but decided not to go into the store.

What I think should be done is, her husband needs to talk to the manager since Asian males tend to listen more closely to the husband of their female employee.

no need to talk to her boss, just tell her to get a new job.

your posting pictures on here of womens boobs you took on a bus with out them knowing and you think her boss has a problem! Look in the mirror buddy!

No, if any kind of harassment is in fact going on, however subtle, this is a very legitimate grievance. I suspect Sageb1 would have no problem with a westernized persn of Indian origin like me who acts like anyone else. But if the young lady’s employers are indeed doing illegal things, it needs to be called out.
