Merle Haggard

American country music singer, guitarist, instrumentalist, and songwriter.  Haggard and his band was instrumental in creating the Bakersfield Sound, which is easily recognized by the twang their guitars,  great vocal harmonies, and an edge not usually heard on the more sophisticated Nashville Sound recordings of the same time period .
He has continued to produce best selling albums . Merle Haggard was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for his song “Okie from Muskogee”.
