Has anyone been prescribed this drug for anxiety or depression?  What have you experienced as far as side effects go?

Anti-anxiety and anti-depressant meds are all the rage these days like smoking cigarettes were starting back in the 60's.  Doctors are giving these meds out like candy.

i just started on it on 9-20. I was told to start 1/4 tablet for 4 days then one 10 mg tablet
per day afterwards. Too early to tell yet; i still feel the same; headache, depressed, sad, lethargic. Its hard to get up in the morning. Theres nothing to get up for.
Now i'm reading all this stuff re brain zaps etc. I'm thinking i should quit taking it and maybe save myself more heartache.

Quit while you are ahead....the doctors will tell you the symptoms will either go away (they won't) or they will try another drug and another and another.  Sooner or later, you will end up in the hospital with a toxic body and liver and any number of nasty side effects.

Who prescribed the lexapro, was it a shrink or your GP? Have you explorered other options like CBT therapy?

Lexapro has no side effects for me, the previous one I forgot it's name, but just turned me brian dead and screwed up my tone in talking to people I like or respect, the only way to have a natural tone is to pretend I hate them.

Don't take drugs, they can screw you up good. Anxiety is normal. Learn to relax.

I have to recommend at least trying marijuana. It's a natural plant, not some strange concoction made by those frigging pharmaceutical companies (because THEY don't have an agenda Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! ). I wouldn't go mixing it with meds, but I find it helps me with my depression and anxiety. I find it calms me down, relaxes me totally, and somehow makes me focus on the happier side of life effortlessly. I don't become some giggling school girl, stuffing my face, etc. I'm just more...at peace, more harmonious, with a gentle smile on my lips. But it does enhance certain things for me: the taste of food, sex, the desire for sex, the sound of music itself, colours, etc. A beautiful, happy, enhanced experience. Totally helps.

Actually, it also helps physically, giving me what feels like a warm, gentle massage all over and through me. It eases away the aches and pains like a warm bath. Vaporize your weed and then have a bath, and you'll sleep like a baby that night. Gorgeous, rich, experience.

I don't even know if you can get a prescription for cannabis for depression and anxiety; I just never really bothered asking my doctor (but then, she's an old stiff anyway). Anyone know?

Stick to Ativan/Xanax/Valium/T3's and booze and you'll be better off than those anti-depressants.

Didn't do a thing for me but this other combination has me cool as a cucumber--although trying to score all the pills is a pain in the ass.

Weed is the worst thing for anxiety in my case. I used it daily for about 17 years and I think it actually caused or triggered my condition. When I quit smoking I felt a little bit better but I still required heavy sedation.

I smoked so much weed that I got too paranoid to even leave my apartment after a while and knocks on the door would send me running.

Now, I take things as they come and basically feel awesome all the time.

Wow; that's a strange experience. I'm thankful my reaction is very different. Even after a year and a half of, say, three vaporizing sessions per day (with only a small amount of cannabis; that's why I'm loving my vaporizer. That and no skunk smell at all. It's kind of like popcorn), I've not shown any side effects. I've taken a few weeks off just to see if it was making a difference and had no withdraw symptoms BUT the anxiety and depression was much more difficult to deal with.

Weed is just like everything; some people have wonderful experiences on it, others (although so few that you're the only one I've heard of personally) just don't enjoy the experience. I'm sure there are even some who have an addiction to it, even though the vast majority of people have no problems whatsoever stopping.

But THAT is why I shy away from prescription meds. If a natural plant like marijuana can still affect some people negatively (although very few), then what about the prescription meds? Those things are loaded with god knows what and there's always a commercial later on from a law firm asking if you took the prescription X and have suffered horribly...

Nahh, I will stick with mother nature. I think she knows what she's doing a hell of a lot more than frigging scientists.

i dunno if weed is the answer. you're replacing one carcinogen and harmful product for another.

but, it's true science doesn't know much. historically speaking, 95% of all medical science has to be unlearned as time goes on.

no no don't quit the brain damaging, mind altering, psychiatric drug. remember its fixing your abnormal neurotransmitters. you have a chemical imbalance and you need to keep taking that drug continuously for life to fix those abnormal receptors.
