Absolutely!!
I've been off it for about a year now and it's actually quite noticeable when you stop consuming it. It's either REAL SUGAR, or nothing, thanks. Nothing low fat/non fat, nothing low carb, nothing diet in any way...Only REAL FOOD for me!! I actually just got back from a vacation with low fat/low sugar/low sodium freaks and the "fakeness" of the food was so obvious it was disturbing. Why did we begin eating chemicals in the first place? |

care to expand on that? Well, I gave it and all artificial sweeteners up a few days ago and just feel "cleaner". I no longer wake up in the morning with acid taste in mouth and throat. I even went through a sort of withdrawal the first day or two and this can't be contributed to lack of caffeine for I still drink coffee and tea. My mind just feels a bit clearer and my depression is gone. |

There are lots of bad things reported about people who use splenda as well. They're are many websites devoted to this as well. I just use splenda in my tea once or twice a day

I swear to god I felt like I was dying most of the time. Like perhaps cancer was eating me alive from the inside out and I just didn't know it. I even went to my doc and had blood tests run but everything came out normal.

Why did we begin eating chemicals in the first place? Hey dont lump low sodium daily diets in with you "freak" label. There is a ton of university research that shows that many diabetics and heart patients can reverse illness and desease with a low fat/low sodium daily regime. It is just watching carefully what you eat and staying away from high sodium foods like fast food, processed foods and canned foods etc. |

I began avoiding anything containing asparatame more than 6 years ago and always declined nutrasweet. Once I removed asparatame from anything I bought I began to be able to concentrate much better.
if I ever have a product that may contain it, I instantaneously feel gross. |

Stevia is a leaf that has sweet properties and is being used in place of artificial sweetnears for diabetics. Refined sugar is terrible for anyone and it actually feeds cancer cells.
the best option, and most nutritional one is unpasteurized honey. It contains many essential minerals and many vits, not including it is antibacterial. |

Many people like Gary Null and Bill Sardi are firm believers thats its our food and diet that make us sick and that many illnesses and diseases can be reduced or cured but certain types of proper eating. Not to mention all the research that went into calorie restrictive diets showing mice and rats live almost 2 times longer than normal with a calorie restrictive diet (80% of normal intake) www.walford.com www.knowledgeofhealth.com www.garynull.com This post has been edited by I'm A Complete Duce: Jul 25 2008, 08:52 AM |

I don\'t know those people, but I agree completely..
foods that say \"fortified\" = foods that have chemically replaced man-made vitamins, no diff than asparatame or inventions of nutrasweet. best foods are like one poster above said - no \"reduced fat\" products or any foods that have been tampered with for the diet industry. These foods that claim reduced \"x\" generally are replaced with toxic fillers. raw foods, and some cooked foods are the best. Research is now showing that in some cases foods that are heated will release more antioxidant properties than if raw (example brocolli.. it turn more green when steamed) I pimp out this website a lot because it is extremely well put together for knowing nutrient values and also lists various research from a wide varity of perspective: http://www.whfoods.com/ I encourage anyone to join the mailing list, they send weekly recipies as well. |

the mailing list is good. It will send a food of the week and tell you its properties and you can then click the link and read about some research too |

I think you're best off staying as close to natural as possible when it comes to food and drink. I used to have one teaspoon of sugar in my tea but made an effort to kick it - that was around 20 years ago now. It tastes really bad to start with, it'll make you cringe when you first taste it without sweetener but you get used to it soon after. Just need to stick at it.
Agree with others here, I think additives are dangerous if you consume too many. I read somewhere a while back that too much aspartame can give you MS like symptons. I don't know, I haven't touched soft drinks from a can in years - just the dilutable bottled orange... |
