in the world when it has the poorest neighbourhood in Canada? Not to mention one of the worst public transportation systems in the developed world? And the highest housing costs in the country? It seems those surveys completely overlook a lot of crucial/ important factors.

Just because a few surveys say that Vancouver is the most livable city in the world, doesn't mean that it is for everybody.

But clearly Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world. Personally, it's my favourite. So it's the most livable city in the world for me.

only good if you can be content with low income or have a higher income.

if you have high expectations but low income. Vancouver is not for you

I think it's livable only if you have money. A lot of areas of Van. are scary.. I have a friend on the east side and I wouldn't want to live there. and if you are talking new west, surrey and parts of burnaby its the same story.
I live in a good area and still get bums picking through my garbage and recycling from time to time.. it's creepy especially when it happens late at night.

Things may be overpriced in Vancouver, but they are not nearly as overpriced as other cities (like London for example, truly ridiculous, and you have to put up with the overcrowdedness too).

The nice thing about london is that you can live in the suburbs such as Hammersmith for less than here. The underground is such that transit is accessible and you can be downtown in 30 minutes or less for a more affordable price. These surveys are useless, you really have to go see for your self.

It's worth the dough you pay. We have many unique urban amenities that are found in very few cities and in some instances no where else.

I can't tell you how much I love living in this city. It is the best place on Earth for me and at the end of the day I get to come back to a cool pad.

I'm pretty screwed a s a single women wanting to buy an apartment since you need to be in a job for at least 2 years to get approved for a mortgage and I've mostly worked contracts or moved to newer jobs for better pay.

2. the places aren't up to standards of living for the costs and

3. what I could afford on a single income, with strata fees, and massive adjustments required to any building would put me in serious debts and stresses.

what is supposed to be affordale isn't. property taxes and the actual age of the building are serious factors to consider.

If Vancouver could do something about cost of living, keep criminals in jail, clean up the downtown eastside & create some sort of transit system that doesn't require half your day to travel 8 kilometres, I would call it the best place in the world.

I would like to finish school here, and have a stable career before I commit to an expense like that. Ultimately I would like to end up living in the London area.

The poorest zip code in canada (dtes) is really alot richer than most neighborhood. Married yuppie men go down there to pick up skanky ho's and buy drugs. A hell of alot of money passes through "the poorest zip code in canada". I find money on the ground all the time on there. Nowhere else in the city.

I think Vancouver is ok as long as you don't mind 9 months of rain, traffic jams, dumb drivers must be among top 10 in the world, expensive housing, high crime rate when in downtown be prepared to duck never know bullets might be flying, homeless and folks asking for help on major intersections and liquere stores, and of course who can forget about infamous downtown eastside. Ha now on the plus side local skiing is not bad, endless mountain bike trails and things to do as far as outdoor activities other than that Vancouver is kind of boring city folks uptight, bars close early when birds go to sleep in fact even local media call it no fun city so there..................haha

Calvin aka Euro aka Goat Boy is an idiot and here is WHY. He only listen to his arse and ignores the facts. I got reference where as Goat Boy speaks from his arse.

He keeps on forgetting that Vancouver is the most livability city for five year in a row. He must have sh!t for brains, because he keeps on forgetting.
The Economist Intelligence Unit's livability shows Vancouver, Canada as the most livable city in the world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_Most_Livable_Cities.
A handful of new studies has given glowing reviews to Vancouver's quality of life, ranking it among the top cities in the world in which to live.

The second annual MasterCard Worldwide Centers of Commerce Index ranks Vancouver as the world's "most livable city."

Vancouver also made the Food & Wine magazine list of top-10 restaurant cities in the world, coming in at No. 10 amid company such as New York, Paris and No. 1 city Tokyo. Vancouver is the only Canadian city to make the list.

"These accolades play a big role in attracting international media attention," said Emily Armstrong, manager of travel media relations with Tourism Vancouver.
