Contrary to what the Western media is telling us, I'd say that a resurgent Russia is good, not bad for the rest of the world. The US abused its privileges as being the sole superpower in the world. It's broken international laws, torn up and destroyed what goodwill it had with the rest of the world under George W. Bush. It's better to have a poweful Russia because in reality it might make the world more moderate and stable, not less so. But the world has become a much less stable place with just one superpower. When the US power became absolute, America itself has become extremely right wing and controlled by extremist elements. America had a chance to spread peace, but has chosen instead to make war. That's not much of a superpower the world can look up to. That's not democracy. That's fascism. In reality, a stronger Russia and China will be better for nations like Canada, because finally America will have to be more respectul towards us and Europe if it wants to keep our alleigiances.

Without Russia and China to counterbalance world power, arrogant pricks in Washington would never have changed the course.

The Russians will undoubtedly look to keep the Chinese in line but beyond that I see little coming from a "resurgent" Russia except posturing and small-scale border skirmishes which will only further destabilize the region.

And how exactly is Russia going to invade Poland? Through Belarus or Ukraine? And with what? Soviet weaponry. The Russians might like to think they are still a world power but there is very little bite beneath their bark. |

The Russians and Chinese have long been enemies.
Their "alliance" is simply forged out of necessity because both are infinitely weaker than the US. They couldn't maintain any sort of cordial relationship when both were communist countries and I think the chance of them staying cordial now is even more remote--especially given Russian anger over illegal Chinese immigration. |

The US is slowly losing its grip as the lone Superpower which controls the world economy and dominates the political agenda of the world now. Truth be know, if McCain gets in, and America continues its wars of plunder and high deficit spending, it could find itself going broke with a generation. McCain talks about the need for a 100 year war to spread Pax Americana, but if they go bankrupt, they may not make it even 1/4 of the way. They are seriously in the hole these days. The NeoCons in the Pentagon, and those controlling America are putting their country at tremendous risk by undertaking foolish, risky and ventures of war and conquest.

Where is it losing its grip????????????????? China is 20 years from having a dedicated blue sea capability and double that from even coming near a threat to the US. A bankrupt US is the end of all the emerging economies. No worries there to the US |

Probably one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum. For so many reasons, on so many levels. You just aren't too bright. *sigh* |

I have to laugh at the fenqing who eagerly await the economic implosion of the USA.
Don't they realise that as the US economy slows fewer Americans are going to be buying consumer goods--the very basis of the Chinese economy? Look at it this way. The entire Chinese economy is predicated upon two things: cheap labour made possible by a corrupt government and the export market. China's in a Catch-22. Without the export market in the West, China's economy collapses. Its domestic market is completely underdeveloped and lacks any buying power because of the low wages it pays its workers to make it an exporter in the first place. From there, it quickly becomes unable to purchase gas and oil and food. With no energy, its economy sinks even deeper and with no food imports its populace starves. The communist government must reform or it will be the downfall of China. China's greatest strength is also its greatest weakness and this can't continue. I bet old Karl Marx is rolling over in his grave laughing at the situation which goes some ways to proving his belief that socialist revolution will occur in industrialised nations. After 60 years, China might well be poised for a true Marxist revolution. |
