It is just leased long term. There were gun emplacements during WW2 at Prospect point and I think there was another behind the searchlight tower at Siwash rock. I think there were others at Ferguson Point during WW1. |

I always thought that would be part of them. You can also see what I think is the remains of a bunker, (based on the entrance location and size). Magazine perhaps? |

lagoon lake used to be part of the ocean that kept flooding when the tied was up..(is that how you even spell ocean tiedes? anyways.. so it took 10 years of dumping sand and dirt on it to finally turn it into a lake.. I wonder if its a little salty |

also.. lagoon lake used to be part of the ocean that kept flooding when the tied was up.. You're really smart. Why did you think it was called Lost Lagoon? Because when the water was low it was a lagoon (What's a lagoon?) and when the waterlevel was high it was part of the Burrard Inlet (the ocean). |

canadians expected the US was going to invade .. Stanley Park (the peninsula where today's Stanely Park is situated) is a strategic point from the military perspective since it guards the entrance to the Burrard Inlet (which is a natural deep water harbour with good access to the ocean). That's also the reason why Vancouver is now the most important settlement in this area and not Port Moody which was originally intended as the final destination for the Trans-Canada railway. As for the fear of the US invasion: At the time (1860's ?) there was no other enemy that would be able to make it the West Coast and it was at the time when American at British interests in Oregon County (present day Oregon, Washington and British Columbia) were still being worked on especially in light of the recent gold rush of mostly American prospectors to BC Interior. |
