I've been a long time customer of RBC. I've had a Visa Avion Platinum card for several years. I'm just shy of a 6 figure income. I've got good credit.
Yesterday I applied to upgrade my RBC Avion Platinum card to the RBC Avion Infinite card. I was rejected and told that the card is only available to private banking customers who qualify for a minimum $20,000.00 credit limit. I felt so degraded! Does anyone have the RBC Infinite Avion card??? If so, what type of qualifications did you have to get one? |

American Express Business (Red, Black, Platinum) are probably the most difficult card to qualify for... followed by the RBC Infinite.
I think it's easier to get a TD or CIBC Visa Infinite so you can try for those... if you really feel that you need one. Or just accept the fact that you are not high society! LOL. Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! |

I recommend the following low interest cards.
Please let me know if you guys found any other ones: - CIBC Select Visa = 11.5% fixed - $30K available credit (not sure how high it can go) - often they do 3.9% on balance transfers for 6 months (no fee) - I had this one the longest -- it's a keeper - Capital One Platinum MC = 7.99% fixed - $15K available credit (not sure how high it can go) - keeper too * they keep calling me to switch to their Prime + 0.9% card but i always decline, since i already have a prime rate lending account save your money Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! |

For reward cards, I like:
American Express Platinum Airmiles card - higher interest than my other cards at 18.5% - but $15 = 1 airmile - $10 = 1 airmile for sponsored merchants (ie Forzani Groups Stores, Shell Gas, Safeway, Boston Pizza etc) Couple this with the Airmiles Reward card & make lots of airmiles at the Shell gas stations. Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! - other than the other benefits that come with the credit cards, I really like the Front of The Line (too bad I couldn't use it for 2010 tickets though) for ticket purchases - auto insurance - ... |

Yeah the rates are a lot better on the cards mentioned by "straight talk" and I don't think the other cards have any "acceptance standards" You'll probably be paying 19.5% on the Infinite card... all for what??? Social status??? lol |

Often, people who think that they have good credit are actually overextended and therefore don't qualify for certain products only available to the most responsible of our clients. A good income helps but the debt to income ratio is the most important factor. |

I got the rbc avion and i don't even make that much lol with first year fees waived. i used the card a lot and get points but when the yearly fee comes i will cut swithch to the low interest card . i dont keep a balance on it so 19.5% interest is not hurting but gain points. I don't want to carry a card to show off to friends i have rbc infinite or avion or whatever and pay high interest that is just plain stupid.
NEVER ever apply for credit cards/loans online...always go to the bank and talk to someone. You will have more success that way. online they can turn u down easily. some banks have limits where a manager or a loan officer are allowed to approve a loan or credit application if it is originally declined. |

yes i believe anyone can get it but they make it seem like it is a privilage to have it. the financial advisor i was talking to told me the rbc infinite card is not available to public, right now it is for their private banking clients. TD visa infinite is available and easy to get. I converted my regular td visa to the infinite. You have to make 100,00 + to get the card but if u have a card already u may convert it.

My current limit is $12,000.00 Also, in response to the previous post, I do have a platinum Avion.... I think anyone with decent credit can get this card.... I was rejected for the Infinite card. You should be fine. They will ask whether your personal income is more than $60,000 though. |

Black credit cards are the most exclusive and often are by invitation only.
http://www.creditcardsearch.ca/version/black I think the bare minimum for requirements is excellent credit and a minimum income of $60,000.00. Other factors that come into play will included income to debt ratio, net worth etc. It's still a lot easier to get the RBC infinite card vs the American Express Centurion Black card. |

I don't think it's about getting one to impress people. It's the rejection of not being able to get one that got the guy upset. Lol.
I suppose it doesn't help when a guy comes along and tells him that he got one in the mail one day. Lol. |

All in the name of getting a top tier visa card, this card is a real hassel once you start using it. It's ok at the retail stores because you're already at the check stand, but when you're at restuarants and the restuarant still uses those old corded TD credit card machines, you actually have to get off your ass to enter your stupid pin. I'm AVOIDING restaurants that still use those suedo-old machines (the really old ones still spit out a receipt and make you sign it) that forces you to input your pin, but the server can't bring it over to you.
Honest to god, other than showing off and being different from the crowd that's still stuck with the platinum avions, this card brings more headaches than practical benefits. |

Wouldn't the fact that you have to enter a pin be a good thing?
I could care less about the Prestige of owning an RBC Infinite card but the security is well worth it. So where do I apply? |

Hey there!
As a rbc employee I just want to say sorry first of all. Look they just misunderstood you at the bank. Sometimes they have a hard time with visa cards and differentiating between them. So there is two different kinds of infinite cards. one is for private banking clients, and they pay like $500 a year for that card and i am sure thats not what you want. and the other one is the regular infinite avion avaliable to public that has the same anual fee then the platinum avion. Requirements for the regular infinite avion Annual income of $60.000 Min. Credit limit of $10.000 What to due: First tip, if you want changes done to your RBC Visa don't go to the branch. Just simply call 1-800-ROYAL-12. Thats exactly what the branch does when you go to them. Go thru the menu selecting the best choises until you get an agent and ask them to switch your card over to the Infinite avion. They will simply update your income and check that you do have the limit required. If not they will see if they can up the limit right on the spot. We really do try to help our customers as much as possible and there is no reason for us to decline you if you qualify. Other then that it was just a misunderstanding at the bank. I hope that helped Cheers |

Assuming the OP pays his outstanding balance completely interest rates don't matter. The difference between the Infinite and the regular Platinum Avion are the additional "perks", most notably the 24/7 concierge service, which most won't use anyways, but everyone thinks they need. It's hardly considered a bragging card if you're comparing true "Black" cards like the AMEX Black Centurion.
The chip pin feature is going to be implemented in all new Visa and MC so get use to it. |
