well ya I guess, I have often thought if you take away all the stupid traditions (cultural) and really lighten up there skin alot you would more or less have a white guy.

White people are a sub-group of the Caucasoid race. Iranians, East Indians are a mix of ethnicity. Their actual race is Caucasoid but they are not white or Caucasian.

Let me explain. In North America, people traditionally have misused the word "Caucasian" when they ought to say "European" just as they have incorrectly called the bison a buffalo. Caucasian does not refer to skin color but to facial features, hair type and texture, and hair distribution. Anthropologists tell us that there are three main races of humankind. Caucasoid, Mongoloid (like Chinese and Japanese) and Negroid (blacks). Some consider the Australian aborigines a fourth basic race: the Australoid.

Now, skin color is determined not by basic race, but by how intense or how weak the sunlight at the place where they developed for many, many generations. Europeans developed in northern Europe, so they need less dark pigment to protect them against skin cancer. Blacks at the equator, so their skin is most heavily pigmented. Chinese and Japanese somewhere in-between.

Now, us so-called "brown race Caucasoids," which sounds like a contradiction in terms to you. We are essentially descendants of prehistoric whites who went back into tropical areas when the Ice Age ended. Intense sun, plus varying degrees of blood-mixing with people they encountered, caused the skin to go dark again.

However, the difference between dark Caucasoids and Negroids is the result of the difference between mininal adaptation to the tropics, and maximum adaption. Blacks are as specialized as possible for tropical environments. Their hair, facial features, and whatever are better designed than those of any other race for equatorial conditions. Dark Caucasoids, however, have undergone as little change as necessary. Except for the color, their bodies are basically similar to those of Mediterranean Europeans.

You do get East Indians (both Hindu and Muslim) who look downright European, but they are few and far between. In Iran, however, "white"-looking natives are a much wider percentage of the people.
