Me: Always worked hard and smart. Been careful with my money-never blew money on cars or excessive partying/eating out all the time.So I've always been comfortable with no money worries,as I deserve.
Ten years ago I gave up lending cash to people:always have to chase them down, they try to make you feel guilty for wanting it back (you have money, why do you care??),with no interest and no thanks. Why should I subsidize their partying and restaurant spending?? Last Xmas I broke this rule, a now ex-friend (***)had wife problems, and he needed $500 to get rid of her. "I'll pay you back next paycheck" is what I heard, and it took me 3 months of asking to get $100 back. In the meantime he bought a new mountain bike, been on weekenders to Victoria/Whistler,taken 2 weeks holiday, and get this...went to Germany for 2 weeks this fall. And he makes more than I do. I met a very smoking hot girl, really smart and nice (she moved back to Toronto to help her mom Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! ) who had a friend who was an equal but couldn't meet anyone nice, asked me if I knew anyone-I didn't tell her about *** I came across a job in ***'s field that paid more, better hours, room to grow,etc-didn't tell him. A longtime friend is into stocks, every month he gives me some hot stock tip and 90% of the time is a winner.50% of the time double or triple my money..I give him a slice. Have made an extra $20k this year. Also used to tell *** but I don't anymore. So $400 has cost *** a hot chick,a new hot job,and lots of money.AND he still owes me $400. After christmas,a lien is going on his car. |

I don't lend money anymore I will give money if a person has a real need and I think I want to help. Lending only costs you friends.

Whenever I lended money in the past I always gave people the benefit of the doubt. I had simple rules: pay me back when you say you are going to and don't make me ask you for it. Of course some people wouldn't follow my simple rules and quickly became ex-friends.
Real friends don't ask to borrow money. |

... So $400 has cost *** a hot chick,a new hot job,and lots of money.AND he still owes me $400. ... After christmas,a lien is going on his car. Your going to act all bent out of shape over $500 (chump change)? If he made more money, I am sure he would pay you off. Maybe if you had bigger balls & asked for the money long ago, then he would have paid you back by now. LOL |

Straight talk-
Your going to act all bent out of shape over $500 (chump change)? ***yeah $500 is chump change, but you're not bright enough to realize the money isn't the point. You can't see the fun I'm getting in it costing him more than he'll ever know...until I tell him. If he made more money, I am sure he would pay you off. ***He makes decent money,he chooses to party it up-can't you read?? Maybe if you had bigger balls & asked for the money long ago, then he would have paid you back by now. ***Bigger balls?? Been asking him evry month, just for the fun of harrassing him, didn't you comprehend I got some out of him?? And I'm not bent out, just warning others. Cynical girl you're right though..he's a spender and I know 100% there's gonna be a time in the future he's short for rent and will ask me for more $$$.I vaguely know his other friends, and they have no $$. Thing is I can't and really don't want to move to TO,keeping an eye on my mom.And she can't stay here, her mom had a stroke and she's looking after her. And is not cool to go after her friend. |

Straight talk- no i wasn't asking you to, i was saying that your asshole *** friend wouldn't really deserve a girl like your friend. I concur, lending (big) money to friends is not always, (if ever) a good idea.
However, Westy, you can't just be slapping liens on vehicles.... it's not allowed. If the debt wasn't incurred against the car (like a repair, etc), then you can't attach a lien to it. Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! Say sayonara to the $400.... and consider it worth it to get rid of *** who ain't really a friend to begin with. |

Glasgogirl,I can do what I want and have the means to put on a lien.
Cynicalgirl like you said...pay back so can borrow again. Update, you'll get a laugh: So **** phones me wanting to borrow $500 and pay me back in 2 weeks. Me:that's what you said one year ago ***Oh ***I'll sell you my car for $5000 Me: They're on Craigs for $4500 ***OK,$4500 then Me:They ask $4500,hoping to get $4000 or under that. You think I'm stupid and trying to %$@#! me over?? ***:No..um... Me: I know you go on Craigs all the time, you can't tell me you haven't checked prices. But most have been on there for months,so they may be worth a bit over $3000 ***: OK Me: You still owe me $400,so that's $2700.It needs new tires for $400 so down to $2300. ***: It doesn't need tires that's BS!! Me: I saw the tires 2 months ago, they're bald on the outer edges.AND I'm going to need to insure it for 3 months so that's down to $2000. ***: ummm Me:The thing is disgustingly filthy,so it's going to need a detailing and probably an oil change..so that's another $200 so $1800. And you think I'm gonna do a whole lot of work just to get my $400 back, which I'm not doing.I'm going to need to make up for my expenditures, hassle of answering ads and showing poeple so I'll give you $1300. *** reponds with much whining about $$ problems, trying to lay a guilt trip on me. To which I reply:stop eating out every effing day, stop smoking, cut back on the partying, you didn't need to go to Europe or buy a $1000+ mountain bike.Cut back,or make more money.I'm not your mom, you're 46 years old... grow up. Then I hung up when he started whining agin. He can eat 40 cent Ramen noodles for Xmas it's not my problem. Fool me once, shame on you.Fool me twice shame on me. |
