We must realize the enormity of what happened today. For the first time in the history of our country the Prime Minister of Canada is running away from the Parliament of Canada elected by Canadians.
His extraordinary demand is the result of his complete lack of leadership of his minority government. Since Conservative do not have a democratic majority Harper is shutting down parliament to avoid a vote from the representatives of all Canadians against him! |

Generally, the Prime Minister will ask the GG to prorogue Parliament - i.e. to discontinue a Parliamentary session - after completing a busy legislative agenda so that the MPs can go back to their constituency offices and get caught up on local matters before the next session starts. But Prime Minister Harper is proroguing prematurely because is scared of losing his job by facing parliament elected by Canadians |
