This isn't some racial shit but a hygiene problem. We haven't had an acne thread in a while so here is one. I'm 22 years old(male) and my face looks like its in the early stages of meth use. I still gets zits here and there which is friggin annoying considernig most people don't get acne at this age. I got all these small acne scars from all these years of popping them and I want to get rid of them. Someone mentioned Clinique Acne Solutions Post Blemish Formula a while back but I can't find it in any stores. Also my face isn't smooth at all. I want to have babyface smooth type skin so what product do I use for that? Thanks in advance.

There are laser treatments for this kind of thing. Like posted above, you need to see a doctor/dermitologist. |

Laser treatments, dermabrasion, retin-A. There is so much out there now to cure and prevent acne and clear up scarring that there seriously is NO reason you should be suffering now as you appparently are. Go to your doctor and get a referral to a specialist NOW. The sooner you start the better silly one!!!

dont waste your time and money with that clinique "shit". forget proactive or any other shits.
you need professional help of a plastic surgeon. fuck the dermatologists. they're just gonna recommend paste on your face and make you wait for months/years for results. fuck that. life is short. save money for plastic surgery and then go to spa regularly. |

Do not use soap and whatever chemicals to clean your face. Just use water about 5 or 6 times a day. Your face needs rest and it cannot handle the scrubbage.

at 22 its ok to still be breaking out. Im 21 and still breakout. Dont waste your time and money on drug store items, go see a dermatologist first, they will look at your skin and prescribe you either creams, pills etc. depending on the severity of your acne. You could do laser for your acne scars, but lasers will be no help and waste you a ton of money if you are still going to be suffering from acne... you wouldnt want to go in for laser every month!
You must remember to drink lots of water! Eat healthy as well |

Like some posters mention previously, see your GP for referral (if you want long term solution), oh...... microdermabrasion helps too. In the past, dermabrasion was done using abrasive crystal. In the past decade, it has become more common to use a wand with a roughened surface. This procedure requires no medical oversight and is commonly used in conjuction with facial spa treatments. Microdermaabrasion is a relatively new comer to the United States. This technique was first used in Europe and adopted by United States in the late 1990's. Today, Microdermabrasion is used effectively to treat fine wrinkles, streatch marks and scars left from moderate to severe acne Dermabrasion is a medical procedure that requires a physician. |

I will! Pretty encouraging pics, eh?
This is a description of the treatment from the website of the place I'm going to: PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) For any acne (face or body) that resists over the counter topicals, consider having a PDT with Levulan treatment which destroys the bacteria and reduces the inflammation associated with active acne. In as few as three treatments, acne sufferers can experience significant clearing with no systemic side effects. What causes acne? Approximately 90% of all adolescents and 25% of all adults experience acne at some point in their lives. Acne is not caused by eating chocolate, greasy foods or bad hygiene. It is a common, chronic skin condition caused by inflammation of the oil-producing sebaceous glands. Acne breakouts are most common on the face, but they can also occur on the back, shoulders, neck, chest, scalp, upper arms and legs. Fortunately, a number of new procedures that treat the lesions and changes associated with acne are now available! PDT Therapy Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is used in conjunction with microdermabrasion and Levulan (aminolevulinic acid) to treat moderate to severe acne, including cystic acne. Levulan is a topical photosensitizer that has been used extensively for a variety of different conditions for over 15 years. What to expect: A typical PDT acne treatment starts with a light microdermabrasion. This helps unclog pores and remove blackheads and white heads (comedomes), as well as exfoliate the surface of the skin. Following the microdermabrasion, Levulan is applied to the face. It is a clear liquid. A special wavelength of light is then used to activate the Levulan in a controlled fashion. The light source also tends to improve any acne scarring so there is additional benefit for the patient. After the treatment one can usually expect the skin to look red as in a sunburn for a few days. The PDT acne treatment program typically consists of three PDT treatments that are performed once a month. PDT can be used in combination with both topical and oral medications. Prior to PDT, the only treatment to show such good results was Accutane. However, Accutane has many limitations, including systemic side effects. Now many patients can achieve good results with PDT and Levulan, without the systemic side effects. |

One of the things that a dermatologist is likely to recomend is a 10% benzoyl peroxide lotion. In Canada, this is available by prescription only. But it is availableover the counter in Blaine , aboout 6 blocks from the Peace Arch at Rite Aid. It's cheaper than paying a "handling fee" to get the same medicine by perscription. |

OH, and as for microdermabrasion and laser resurfacing............I believe that that is a solution that is called for AFTER your acne has subsided.
There is also a great book available by Nicholas Perricone, I believe it's called "the Acne Cure" or somthing like that...Chapters would probably cary it.... otherwise ebay. Nicholas Perricone is an American Dermatologist. |
