In terms of racism towards Asians, BC and Australia are definitely on par. If you are not Asian, Australia is better because the climate is much better.

scenery looks decent but the summers seems way to hot for me. i like the vancouver weather and scenery.

I visited australia for a good month and I LOVED it. I went a few weeks after the riots. From dec 05 to january 06.

I will be buying a home there for sure and make it a 2nd home to Canada.

One reason I loved australia is that it reminds me of Canada a lot, just not the shitty weather.

I myself am not white, and a lot of friends told me to be careful cause all the race riots and stuff. I can tell you that I didn't get any extra feelings of racism from anybody that I wouldn't get in Vancouver. It could also be that I am pretty oblivious to that stuff and don't really notice it at all.

Some of the younger boys do have hot heads, that is for sure... But all boys are jackasses when young and boozed up.

As long as you are friendly and joke around with them, they are very nice to you and easy going. But piss them off in a bad way and they will kick your ass.

They love rugby and cricket there. If you do like to watch TVs for some reason, they have only a few channels unless you go satilite. High speed internet is not as fast as in Canada. Cellphone companies.. I think Telastria and Vodaphone are the two big ones there. vodaphone is worldwide though. TV shows come late as do movies... so if that is a big thing for you, you may suffer.

Outdoor activities are a nobrainer...

In general I found aussies to be very nice people. People who say it's a racist shithole either never been there or are such shitty people themselves they got what they deserved and probably get shit other places too.

Infastructure is good depending on which city. Melbourne for example has very new infastructure and a good (albiet expensive) transit system. The major highways are toll highways too. But many highways of the world are tolled. I was looking through condo prices and they are around the 350+.

Sydney is a more established (older) infastructure, and traffic sucks ass there. But it has quite a decent transit system that can get you to most places you need to go. It is expensive as shit there however.

Melbourne is more laid back than sydney, but that doesn't mean it's a slouch in any regards.

Everything has GST on it.. so if it says $19.99, you pay just 20 bucks. mind you they don't have the penny there anymore, so they will round up or down depending.... Also, tipping is usually not done in regular places.. my friend told me not to tip at many places and it was hard to do. prices for foods and groceries are expensive though.

electronics come a bit later and are limited in supplies at times. for example, during christmas season, ipod nanos were in short supply b/c only so many were imported in...

Health system I hear is pretty good, and I'm guessing it's similar to Canadian system if not better. Look online at wickipedia and there are UN studies showing quality of life in Australia to be top 3 in the world.

In the summer (our canadian winter months) it gets very hot in sydney. It was 38 mnay days.. the day we left it was 47 degrees, broke local records.

Melbourne is known as a city that gets 4 seasons in a day. and that is very true. In my stay, it rained at night and was sunny as hell one day. Cool one day, hot another day. Rain for 1/2 day, sunny the rest of the time. It's quite funky to see. but the weather is much more mild than sydney.

One thing in the summer is the bush flies.. these flies are everywhere, and go in your eyes, face, mouth, ears.. you will be constantly fanning your face to scare them off. that is why you see those aussie hats with corks attached...

If you are fortunate enough, go visit there yourself and don't listen to jackasses who use the media to determine the place. cheers

I think Australia would be a better place to live in for overall quality of living but Canada seems to be more of a "convenient" place to live.

Canada = A little bit more urban than Australia

But if you like traveling a lot then Canada is way better because it doesn't take 25 fucking hours to get anywhere that isn't SE Asia.
