This harkens back to the 1800's in England when a social movement started in order to protest modernization in the textile industry. These peeps got together and marched on Parliament ...complaining bitterly about their livelihoods being replaced by machines. Sound familiar?!

Here is a starter...

One of the things I protest vehemently about is the 'application' of the computer. Any pet peeves to add yourselves?

i hate youtube comments that look like this one

1.put your hand over your mouth
2.make a wish into your hand
3.pull your hand away and put it over your heart for 5 seconds
4.put this on a comment for 3 more videos
5.if you do you will have the best day of your life tomorrow

That's a very contradictory comment DocWatson howver I think it's doubtfull that you realized it. You are, as I have pointed out numerous times, not particularly intelligent so it's not likely you would or could recognize your own stupidity if it his you in the face.

You have commented on technology in general and computers in particular and made a specious remark about the supposed usefullness and posited a negative opinion. That is not in keeping with your prediliction for the posting of endless links of self-interpreted garbage, your horrific and continuing lies, your obviously nutty Chinese/Jesuit/Rothschild conspiracy theory for world domination and many other stupid comments to numerous to count. You see dummy, use of a computer (the very technology you have decried with your poorly thought out opinion) works to your advantagle. How else would you have been able to lie to so many people all at once without a computer?

You are getting dummer as the days progress Doc and it shows.

That's pretty funny because once upon a time, his handle here on DV was "Pork Chop" and he loved the big red letters, and saying BOY after the ridicule became too much for him :w00t:

Ain't that right Pork Chop

DocWatson is evil, cunning and devious but that does not make him intelligent. Far from it in fact. Most people when involved in a debate rely upon intelligence and a well considered point of view. We see that here often and it can be stimulating and even fun. DocWatson uses neither tactic, depending on massive lies so enormous that he often gains an audience for nothing more than entertainment. His "arguments" (term used loosely) are neither compelling or persuasive. Further, I wonder if anyone besides me has ever noticed that whenever he has dug himself a hole and cannot extricate himself he tries to turn the argument on its ear by claiming the opposite of what he initially intended. Too bad for Doc, it doesn't work. Yet another indication that he is a truly dumb liar. In fact it seems the very word dumb was invented to describe DocWatson.

As a spin-off of my Luddism I have stared an enquiry into Pedestrian Cites and their possible return in todays world. Being a Luddite has an advantage in seeing the world in more simple terms..not to be confused with "simplistic"! Although some detractors would have it otherwise..he he

And they were dead wrong. The use of machines resulted in massive increases in employment.

Just as people are dead wrong now.

Those that try to stand in the way of progress are almost always wrong.

What you mistakenly call progress isn't advancement at all but it turns out to be enslavement. LOL So much for your idea of progress. Progress; real meaning is the inference of advancement not degeneration and stagnation.

The use of machines did increase residual wealth which in itself created a middle class. Not true wealth when it allowed for increased taxes so they were no further ahead. The real wealthy were the ones who owned the factories during the industrial revolution. It allowed some graduation in the middle classes to keep ideas flowing, keeping them securely in place to be taxed. Meanwhile the wealthy grew wealthier and wealthier. No one was to marry also into their ranks. Arranged marriages were de rigor

the ultimate use of this machine which I am typing on is to be the instrument of enslavement. It was designe as a finacial tool. Not as a communication tool for us. To keep us happy, games were designed and other devices to hold our interest and keep us dstracted from the real purpose of it's invention. Ultimately this tool will be taken away from us with it's freedoms as we are using right now.
