I'm not sure Chapters counts as a "decent bookstore." And "Chinese restaurants and malls" isn't a huge draw either I must say.... Don't get me wrong, I like Chinese restaurants and malls. But a larger city has so much more to offer.

anyone know? what makes people pay a premium to live in vancouver when they can get a big house in the sunshine coast?

Because there aren't many jobs on the Sunshine Coast and commuting from the Sunshine Coast to Vancouver eats away at your soul. Also, some people like an urban atmosphere, which you don't get on the Sunshine Coast.

San Diego is so beautifull, much more beautiful than Vancouver. If you have money, can get green card, it is super place to live.

About the only thing which $95,000 will get in Vancouver is partial ownership in a tiny condo where a person can live in it 60-90 days of the year.

Overpriced? I dunno. It is a market economy.

You can move elsewhere where there is less crime as you say for cheaper but it won't have the setting/infrastructure/climate that Vancouver has. That's what driving the desire.

A foreclosure, but here's what $95,000 gets you in sunny San Diego:

I could move to tbay and buy a small house with cash and then do something like work at home depot to pay the cable and stuff. Find me a woman and then we would have 2 incomes to pay bills. No mortgage would be pretty sweet. Being back home would be nice too even if most people I know from there are gone.

Well, maybe you oughta move back there if you were happier there than here. You sound homesick.

so in fact, you do agree that the real estate is overpriced in this city and that you can get a lot more for your money elsewhere?

North Side Tbay

$136,000

Just up the street from where I lived

But you don't have to move to TB to get real estate at those prices.
