Choises for a prepaid credit card are:
Western Union : http://www.westernun...aid_credit_card
West Edmonton Mall VISA Card: http://www.westernun...aid_credit_card issued by Citizens Bank of Canada.
There are a lot of other choices, but defenitelly Harvest Capital is not one of them, sorry guys :(

I was browsing different websites who offered prepaid mastercards, and I came across HC. I sent them a money order $39.00 in Mid August, its now Oct 17 and I received nothing, when I emailed their customer service i never got a reply, its a good thing i never gave them my sin number. Its hard for consumers to trust these joe blow companies, i wish visa and mastercard themselves would offer prepaid credit cards to canadian residents.

My little sister's first card came in the mail not that long ago -- a Canadian Tire Options MasterCard. I'm assuming the interest is atrocious, but as long as you're employed, you're pretty much approved.
It's not like you'd keep it long, anyways -- use it every now and then (and pay it off right away), then apply elsewhere.

before you guys apply for credit cards..have you guys seen your own credit bureau file...you can get it free if you mail for it. http://www.equifax.com/EFX_Canada/ here's the website.. check out the consumer information centre then frequently asked questions..there's lots of good info there. Also if you do get a credit card...make sure you pay in full (even if the balance is small) by the due date when you get the bill or not. It's the responsibility of the consumer to make sure they make the payment on time. use the credit card as a replacement of cash..not as a fast loan!!! If you default on it the credit history will be there for 6 yrs, so dont miss any payments....also if you get one credit card ie:visa or m/c dont get anymore till you've used it for a year so you build your credit history, the more credit cards you have the lower the risk/beacon score.
PS..keep your balances low so you can manage it better

Then she tells me - "oh, if you have a bankruptcy, you have to put DOUBLE the deposit, before we can give you a credit card ! "
Was really pissed that that wasn't mentioned before I went through all that.
They are a great institution, no worries, but this particular person just didn't disclose all the requirements.

and got taken for $150 .No problem, should have did some research.
Paid $40 for a MyCard Mastercard with my American Express card, applied on line with my receipt .MyCard emailed back days later requesting explicit identification, passport, paystub etc ,disclaimer on bottom reads,if no reply is made in 21 days blah bblah .Faxed pay stub, days later received email from MyCard need further proof. Now ,I am having fun.Birth Certificate? needs to be the original, this will take 60 days so bye bye before the 21 day expire limit after application.
Four weeks later and unable to meet the identification criteria, short of providing my S.I.N number,no luck.I owe and live in the same house for 16 years, payed income tax for 23 years, establihed near perfect credit for over 20 years, payed off numerous car loans on time, respected my lines of credit, yet cant get a MyCard.

Sorry to hear that, I dont' know much about MyCard but I do know that the Prepayedge Prepaid MasterCard card is deffinately not a scam. I have one and I didn't have to provide any sort of identification at all, I also know of quite of other people that have the same card and they all say it fantastic. I went to www.tns-prepaid.net and I downloaded an application and sent it in and got my card 10 business days later. If you don't have access to the internet you could always call them and they will fax or mail you an application to send in with a money order if you have any questions please call 1-888-236-4354 ext 229 and they will be glad to talk with you.

after I found out about prepaid cc, I've been doing some research about it and now I totally gave up on getting cc.
prepaid cc has so many fees to pay on every action you do on card.
also, not many prepaid cc are available in Canada yet..
most of them on internet are US sites..
and I don't have extra $1000 cash around for deposit to get cc from bank.
aaahhhh... I guess I'll just have to wait another a few years til I get raise at work or prepaid fees go down... /sniff ....
