GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!

Why don't you just get a normal credit card and put some $$ on it to give yourself a credit ? You probably don't have good credit, so now you have to pay cash,, so whats the problem ?? You have to pay upfront for a prepaid credit card anyways, just like you have to have $$ in your account to use a debit account,, so I don't see the problem here..

I lied my way into a gold and two platinum cards. Those companies are pretty stupid.

i have a nextwave titanium plus card with the pay as you go plan from money mart. i thought i would just mention that at the time that they should deduct the monthly fee if you have no balance on your card they will not charge you that monthly fee. if you have only $1 or $2 dollars at that time then they will deduct only that $1 or $2 dollars. i am not sure if this will hold true if you hav a

DO NOT BUY THE VANILLA MASTERCARD!! I was given one for my birthday. After attempting to make a purchase, I was declined twice. When I called the company I was informed that both transactions went through and there is nothing that they can do for me. NO REFUND!!

There is somthing called a Vanilla mastercard giftcard. You can get balance's up to 100 dollars. You can find them at shoppers drugmart. have fun spending.

okay this may sound dorky but there is always the much music mastercard. its a real prepaid mastercard and might be a way to start.

is about 40$ to get one and cost 1.50 to put money on it but its not as much as other cards plus there is no montly cost as well as only a 10$ fee for the following years.

hello this is peter wlodarek and l live in canada,ontario,toronto we have the cash store down here which you only have to pay 14.95 to get the card and one goverment photo id and then minium 20.00 and then everybody is approved because it is a prepaid master card and l know you guys have money mart down there and ask them if they have prepaid master card and if they do thell well ask you to pay for the activation of the card and you can put as much as you want ok bye and hopeful this helps you out bye.

I am in a similar situation myself and have been doing some searching, The only other one that I have found is the Much Music Mastercard, its a pre-paid set up and its $34.95 plus a $5 minimum for loading. Hope this helps any.

I can't beleive I made it to page 12 of this thread! Eeek, people are a tad toucy aren't they? I've seen the pros and cons of what people have listed here but the main this is this:

If you want to build your Credit History, meaning you want your credit score to increase, you DO need to go with a Secure Credit card if you can't be given a card from the bank or directly from any instituation. Secure Cards (all but the exception of Capital One) give you a credit extension for the amount that you place as a "deposit", this way if you put $500 and don't pay your bill, the company can recover that $500 from your "deposit". It does suck that most companies charge a huge deposit but try Capital One. I screwed my credit up years ago when I was 17, extended credit and had no job, so I need to rebuild. I paid $75 to CapitalOne Canada and received a $500 limit that I had to pay interest on transactions and attempt to rebuild my credit. I made every effort to make transactions and pay off ym balance each month, 6 months later they increased my limit to $1500, with still only recieving the initial $75 deposit. Whenever I decide to close my account, I will receive my initial deposit back plus any interest gained during the time.

If you just want a Credit Card to make online transactions such as Paypal, stores online, Itunes, etc than a Pre Paid card would probably work for you. I personally don't like them because it's just a glorified Debit Card but the fees are insane to reload, for POS, etc.

I stand by Capital One personally, they've been great. They issued me a second card with a $300 limit (not sure why it was lower this time lol) but I intend to work that balance up as well. Building credit is important!

If you live in Canada you can. i've seen ads at the local CIBC. you can goto them(they are a bank) and ask them about them. I think most banks probably offer this sevice.
