ALPosted - 10/13/2004 : 19:52:44 Could these forums be turned into an RSS feed? Or create a subscription design of some sort where people can receive new threads as well as new messages posted in existing threads, via email?Esp. the email option could make keeping up with the board much, much easier. What're your thoughts on this?

I WANT A BETTER FORUMPosted - 10/14/2004 : 01:02:30 These forums need some governing - they are no longer useful for potential new Vancouverites. In fact, a lot of the threads on here are enough to put people off of moving here which is not a good thing.Again I ask the DV crew why can't we have:1) Registration so people can't impersonate others (see JeffBC is a virgin thread). Registration would also give many other benefits; keep out the passer by who wants to start a thread called "Hey guyz, lol!!!11", we could have control pannel showing when our threads are responded to, we could edit our posts so to fix spelling etc. the list goes on.2) Different forums so that the "I hate XXXX get out of my town" threads can be kept away from "here is a good place to find an apartment" threads.3) Forum FAQs and stickied topics so that people don't ask the same questions over and over again.4) Better forum moderation with people being banned for behaving badly and messing up the forums in general.

Posted - 10/14/2004 : 08:56:36 The 3 guys behind this forum are planning a forum makeover this fall and if all goes well according to schedule, it shall be ready by early next year! Moderators do their best to control the environment here. We have a really small team of volunteers. I personally do not mind registering my user name anymore. I can understand how you feel about seeing the same questions over and over again. Kind of like deja-vu or that movie "Groundhog Day." Nonetheless, I think this forum gives a well-rounded taste to the people and life in Vancouver.

I think forcing everyone to register would be a bad idea. Most people new to here, problem would find it too much trouble to ask for help then...But a system where you can register, but still post without being a registered user would be ok

With all this chat about the Search facility, a small design change that I can guarantee would increase the use of the 'Search' feature is if it was placed at the top of the forum page rather than waaaaaaaay at the bottom. People (as we know) are lazy.Just my two cents.
