Pickton guilty
Second-degree murder verdict on all six counts Accused serial killer Robert (Willie) Pickton has been found guilty on all six counts of second-degree murder, not first-degree as charged. Screams were heard in court as the jury foreman announced the verdicts on each count. Pickton, the Port Coquitlam pig farmer, was on trial for the murder of six women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The jury delivered its verdict at 11:30 a.m., on the ninth day of deliberations. Stan Lowe, spokesman for the provincial Crown counsel office, said earlier Sunday that sentencing could go ahead today. Pickton, 58, is charged with 26 counts of murder, has pleaded not guilty. This trial involves six of those murder cases, the other 20 are expected to be tried later. All 26 of the women were on a list of 65 women who went missing from the Downtown Eastside between 1978 and 2001. Today's verdict comes on the one-year anniversary of the jury selection process beginning. It was Dec 9, 2006 when hundreds of residents gathered at New Westminster Courthouse after receiving summonses to be potential jurors. http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...bef&k=71644 |

This guy should have went for treatment long ago. Instead it was overlooked by his family, brother or whoever. Reading some of the messages on the Wild Wild West board, I am incline to think we may have a few future Picktons in our midst right now. |
