The city wants to turn the Storyeum in gastown into yet another parking lot. I think that they should use this opportunity to help the homeless.

Sadly, they'll never allow homeless people to live in such a touristy part of town. Especially when the condos over there go for so much.

True enough. But they took away social housing at Woodward's and the Olympic village. We need to do something, it's only going to get worse.

They're not going to do anything, the downtown eastside is getting worse and worse everyday...

It is very hard to help homeless person's. They come with all sort's of problem's. Most of them have been in social housing before and were not consistant enough to remain there. There are to many minor children on the street's. Start with them first before they end up like the rest of the nut's.

Some of these homeless people look like pretty able bodies to me. every second store has a help wanted sign in them. I see very young teenagers working in all sorts of places and always have to take a second look at how young some of these kids are that are working. So if they hire kids they would hire some of these homeless people too. Sometimes people just need a good kick in the ass to do something for them selves. if they want to live in a shelter, fine I support that but they need to be making an effort to supposrt themselves other wise they should not be given dick all!
Too bad about storeun going bellyup, they made an effort but the over all native thing was just too boring, to be honest! The actors were hard to understand with their heavily fake accents.
Ya some kind of cheap housing would be a good idea, but for working poor only!
