Recently, the city installed brand spanking new sidewalks along one of the residential streets near me. Why, I dont know. The roads could have used that attention. So anyway, I knew it was only a matter of time until the retards pissed me off. You would think any person with a shred of intelligence would now stop walking in the middle of the road and use the sidewalk. Nope. 3 Asian ladies walking down the road, and then staring at me as I try and drive by as if I'm doing something wrong. Wtf? Now I'm not trying to make it a racial thing because God knows idiots exist in all races. But seriously............

By me it’s the older people that walk for exercise that are always in the road. I think it’s because they are afraid to trip on any uneven sidewalk joints that they might unknowingly encounter. I’m not exactly sure if that is the reason but I share your frustration

Since when did it become acceptable to walk down the middle of a road? It would be one thing if they were off to the side while not using a brand new sidewalk provided, but to be right in the roadway so I have to come to a complete stop until the saunter past? I just dont know any more Fat Renee.

How dare you drive on THEIR road. They own this country brother, so you'd better get used to it.

Lucy, like the new avatar. Strange, in some pics you look attractive and some you don't. But I still appreciate the variety.

Was there snow and ice on the sidewalk? Maybe thats why they were on the road. I would give you a dirty look too if you drove by me. LOL!

I took my dog for a long walk yesterday and almost killed myself on those sidewalks. I know we have a salt shortage but is sand not all around us for the taking. City workers, whats up?? Cut backs to kill me. Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image!

Oh I know. Just letting my frustrations out, its good for the body. I get the whole jaywalking on busy streets because people are too lazy to go to a light. But on a quiet residential st with spiffy new sidewalks? Thats beyond ignorant. Be glad Im not talking about Superstore. lol.

Ooh good point. Near my house the sidewalks are like half driveways, so when it's icy you slip down them. I walk on the road.... but I move to the side when a car comes close.

These are brand new, no ice, no nothing on them. The people walk down the middle of the road in the summer to, and expect the guy in the car to patiently wait for them. Has nothing to do with ice, more to do with lack of intelligence and a general i dont care attitude.

Meaning you have about 10' of sidewalk and then 10' of sloping driveway... then 10' of sidewalk again.... etc. There's no alley, so all the driveways are out front. They take up about 50% of the sidewalk.

I agree. But i guess pics would let you people understand how ridiculous this is. They have the brand new sidewalsk, then a good 5 feet wide of brand new dirt for people to park their vehicles, and then the st. Its one thing to walk just on the edge of the road, these morons were walking 3 wide across the road, so i cant even drive by. It happens all the time. Since when did it become normal for a pedestrian to dictate to a driver how its gonna work on a road? I actually dont feel bad for alot of pedestrians that get hit, because most are doing something wrong and being ignorant.

So, is that what it looks like? The flat part being the sidewalk?

If so, why are the sidewalks so high off the ground?

Damn it, no. Both of you must be thinking in the wrong direction. I just mean it's a normal sidewalk with driveways in it (unlike commercial sidewalks that oftern have no driveways in them). It's just that most of the houses on my block have the two car garages, so the driveway part is wide... so when your walking on the sidewalk, it is almost always sloping because the peoples driveways take up so much space there is almost no sidewalk left.

Do people walk in the middle of the road in the summer in your neighbourhood? Im near a skytrai nst, so its a fairly steady stream of people, and thats why it pisses me off. it's not just like 1 person here or there.

No, just when it's icy... because ice plus slopes is a really bad combination.
