The roomates and I have been hearing weird sounds which we suspect is a squirrel(s) making scratching sounds from the attic. It's annoying and even one of the 2 cats we have seems to be fixated towards the ceiling. What can we do? How did they get in?

Be sure to get them all, you don't want to leave behind any babies!!! It is much more likely to be squirrels then rats, is my guess! |

Battled the squirrels all last summer and fall, hoping they would not get into the attic over the winter. Your squirrels are now a family and just wait until spring when there is lots of them. You have more problems than you think, as you have to get rid of them (like permanently) because they will rip through anything to get back in. You have to be sure they don't die in the attic for obvious reasons. I suggest professional help which will cost lots (over $500). Otherwise the electrician and handyman are going to charge you a lot more for the repairs they will cause. They will not go away.
Google your problems to learn more. I stayed away from poison because I didn't want the responsibility (pets and kids around the neighbourhood). Buy some good traps and keep them going through the spring and summer. Drown the squirrels or relocate them far away because they will never go away. I got five over August/September as they were living in my gutters. They were easy to get because their routines are the same each day. A box of pellets is cheaper than the traps. |

Maybe you should put your cat in the attic and see what he finds. I had a mouse in my cupboard one day, I called my old lazy tom cat over throw him in the cupboard closed the door. My problem was solved very quickly.

Yeah, could be a ghost. Worse, could be Ghost Dad. Either way, you're blessed.
