I would say to try and not even think about it for like a couple of weeks... Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image!
The press release said that over 1,200 people attended the job fair! And they have to go through all of those applicants to get down to approx 18 per training class for conventional, PLUS the community shuttle side of things as well...

Only 175 passed the interview though. (Didn't say if that was the number of people who passed both the interview AND the trainability.)

ARRRRGH... it's killing me. I just want to know!

WOW! Only 175 passed?? That seems abit low considering 1256 showed up! At that rate, they'll never get their 650 new ops this year!! They'd need like 9,000 applicants!!

I would then like to mention that driving ISN'T the only position at CMBC... There are 20 OTHER positions on the website right now!! "Customer Information Clerk" could be another good way of getting your foot in the door!

PLUS, The new Canada Line/RAV will need staff next year too....

Haha Superchecker, are you an HR person for Coast Mountain Bus Co? You seem to be their biggest fan!

And yeah, I got those statistics from the CMBC website so I'm pretty sure they'd be accurate.

I haven't heard yet either and it's working on me a bit too. Fingers crossed. At least it looks to be 50/50 if you made it to the interview. I fealt like mine went well, but I bombed the driver test. I didn't realize I would be doing a driver test after all the other stuff. And I got the 4:45 session (5:00 on the road). Rush hour, stressed and hadn't driven downtown vancouver in something like a year. Not good times. Fingers crossed... Good luck to you! I'll try to post when I hear back.

Haha, I aced the driving test. I was driving at 11am on Friday so traffic wasn't too bad. Busy enough that I didn't have a chance to speed but entirely reasonable. It's the interview I'm nervous about. It was brutal. I left feeling like I had an IQ of about 85.

Good luck to you too! I'll definitely be posting when I hear.

They can use all the 98B-line drivers they won't need anymore.

P.S. OK, I know Translink will expand bus service somewhere else (not in Vancouver or Richmond).

None of this will happen until late 2009, but here goes:
The 98 buses will be moved and used on the new 41st Ave B-line, and the new King George Hwy B-line routes...
The trolley bus along Granville will greatly increase in service levels, to replace the 98 along Granville...
Most routes in Richmond-South Delta-White Rock will increase in frequencies to meet up with RAV...
The Granville, Oak, Cambie, Main, Fraser and Marine Drive buses will all be re-roted to the new RAV station at Cambie and Marine Drive...
There are new routes planned east-west along 33rd and 16th Avenues...
