How do you block unwanted web sites? OK let me start by saying: I am using Firefox. I get these unwanted ads, like: party poker.com and others like this aggressive, free anti-virus scan that tries to hijack my browser. I end up closing/exiting the window or crtl-alt-delete ending firefox.
What I am looking for is something to block partypoker and other annoying websites. And what about the aggressive ad? Any suggestions. |

Both IE and Firefox are supposed to block all pop-ups now. Maybe your version is old?
Here's a link regarding Firefox pop-ups: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Pop-up+blocker And here's a great add-on you might want to try. It stops all banner ads, and other ads: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 |

I use Safari. Can I block websites too (not pop-ups because those are already blocked), and how? I'm dying to find out.

I don't know anything about Safari. You might want to try googling for that info.

My Firefox is up to date. I am thinking that I somehow allowed a cookie on my browser.

For fire fox, it blocks web sites https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1803 ProCon Latte 1.7.9.5
Long Description ProCon is a content filter for the Firefox browser. It can filter any kind of material (pornography, gambling, hacking, cracking, etc...), it can also block all traffic, making sure that only desired websites (set in the Whitelist) can be accessed, and includes a profanity filter, all *like* a parental control filter. ProCon also has password protection in order to keep *others* from changing the settings. |

If you know a link has a pop up, hold CTRL and click the link. I use Firefox too.

I want a mac but the software keeps me away, I have always liked them better than windows Attention: REGISTER / LOGIN to view the image! the only thing I really needed was the Microsoft Word, for writing essays and making powerpoints for school... Mostly I got a Mac because a. it's really, really pretty b. it works better with my iPhone and iPod c. it's lighter to carry in my backback than are most massive PC laptops |
