Good move really and I hope they find a way to address the $700,000,000,000 mess, it's all about 5% of the mortgages and most never should have got them to begin with why should we put the bill for corporate greed and a small % of public stupidity.
He's right on this move, political ploy or not. |

The flip flop express is pulling into the station. I guess he won't be calling himself the "fundamental deregulator" this time around. How quickly things can change in a week.
What a shrewd move by McCain. He helped cause this mess, and now he's going to pretend that he's on top of it. |

Goes to show everything that is wrong with the system. |

Sounds as though he's scared to take on Obama Friday evening. He's obviously buying himself time to flesh-out an economic plan that will gain votes. So he chooses NOW to wake-up and do the responsible thing? Like he can't give a few hours of his time to debate? Gimme a freak'n break!
How transparent can one get?!?! |

Clearly one acts as a leader knowing priorities, one remains the 100% "huckster" .... not wanting to delay a chance to "sell more snakeoil" ..... some things never change, both remain exactly in character |

Cancelling a little debate because you're "busy sorting out the financial mess caused by your party"?
Come off it.. pull the other one... |

Actions are one thing, intentions are another; McCain's camp realizes that OBama is gaining the lead on economic issues so this is an act of desperation on their part to offset whatever gains his made by portraying McCain as taking the initiative (and attempt at playing moral exampler - "Obama should join us in working toward's a solution") rather than an honest, concerted attempt to sort-out the country's current financial woes. This is an appeal to the less-educated republican and independent blocks who are easily won over by such empty gestures. |

also, stating that Obama is being hypocritical in condemning the suggestion that debates be postponed does not parallel well to McCain's offer(s) to hold smaller, unscripted ebates as Obama had yet to flesh out his policies (both foreign and domestic) at that time.

The "time" suggested was times including right up to the election. Seems he should "flesh out" by then |

Obama should still go to the 'debate' and answer whatever questions are asked of him. Elaborate on his 'plan' for the economy while calling McCain's bluff.

Hang on.. if mccain is stepping down from the debate - surely it's now up to his vp choice to take part in the debate?
Now THATS something i want to see.. Clueless Palin vs Obama in a debate.. He'd tear her to shreds while she just answers "i can see russia from my house" and "better not blink" to everything |

McCain wants to get some ideas before the debate or he wants to take credit for Obama's ideas and pretend that it was from both sides. The guy is creepy. |

So Mccain wants to cancel this fridays debate, and replace next weeks VP debate with it.. Postponing the VP debate indefinately.
.. So in other words, he KNOWS palin will %$@#! up. And he wants to give her time to study If I were Obama, i'd say "well okay, why dont we just swap them and have the VP debate this friday, and the presdidential one next week?" |

Nobody suspended their presidential campaigns during WWII and D-Day back in 1944.
