Something substantial I bet.
Backing off of missile defense program maybe and something else.

You can bet that the Russkies didn't do it just to be nice. I'm sure they weighed their options and agreed to it in order to gain an advantage somewhere else. There will much more to come on this one.

I'm sure the Russians find the humour in helping the Americans fight Al-Qaide, whom they armed to fight the Soviets. It's sort of like something coming full circle.

If they wanted to score points with the US, all they have to do is pull out of Georgia. But they've been so pissed off at the US for giving Kosovo its independence, they're not in the mood to do them any favours. So some other deal is afoot here.
