Raise the welfare rates and the minimum wage so people don't have to beg

Hmmmm,,, not sure people are begging because of low welfare or min wage rates, it is probably because of their habit or just lack of money management. Welfare or min wage will not solve this type of problem.

I agree with the minority for a while part, probably no election this year either.
Layton might quit, depends on his treatment for prost cancer. That leaves Lib leader, not sure he will gain much traction in the polls unless Harper screws up, which he seems to do every once in a while!!!

They still all still use the charities to eat anyway. None of them ever go hungry. It is not possible to go hungry in Vancouver.

Hmmmmm, I suspect if they play by the charities rules ,,ie eat between this hour and that hour,, yes they will probably be fed, but what happens to the guy who does not like eating by their rules. For instance I am not aware of a place dt where a charity exists to feed him when he's hungry in the evening.

I just wanted to say please don't give panhandlers money. If you want to help them give to a charity who can assist them. Otherwise you are just contributing to their addictions. Thank you.

Well there also a problem with charities, where are they when these people need help?? Charities also suck a lot of money for overhead, staff etc.
One thing if you give to them directly , you cut out the middle man!!
But I know what you mean about supporting their habit ,, I don't know what is best,, I guess I would feel a lot more comfortable telling them if their hungry,, go down the block where there is an agency that will feed you,,, unfortunatley, there no agency down the block to help them!!! Yeah , always a delima !!!
