From discussions I've had with qualified immigrants there is a sense of elitism that pervades our professional bodies.

A Doctor from Karachi University or for that matter or Delhi University is more than qualified. I would not hesitate having them operate on me. A doctor from Nigeria should be able to practice medicine in Canada once he lands in Canada. a doctor is a doctor.

It's just that you're so incredibly masculine for some apparent reason.

I 'd say sorry to disappoint but I can't care less,
anyone expect to hear a dozen of 'It's sOoo like' talk? .. not gonna happen, not over here. That's just an extreme example, why I don't want to be harassed by internet pervs is another matter, i hope you understand, i am not really attention whore type. Anyway the modern pretentious phony 'girlie'-ness sucks donkey, I happened to find it un-sexy, it's one of the most useless annoying thing invented by/for stupid brainless women to attract even more stupid brainless men, say I am a person first, and I like to talk like one, not faking that girlieshit doesn't make one less of a woman, it does the opposite.

IF you think I sounded ' masculine' that may because you are lil feminine.. it's ok some women find it attractive.

From obvious observation, seems those who constantly accuse invariably are the ones most guilty of what they accuse others of being. There is a lot of that going around here.

Seems this same so narrow type never can even take a mere word-play joke (unless it is upon someone else of course).

While I appreciate the problems faced by
immigrant Professionals and think They may be having a tough time,
I think there is more
to the story. I don't think Professional standards,
and University credentials are completely equal
around the World. I think You have to be careful
when You talk about the credentials of an Engineer.
I can't say which Countries are better or worse in
this regards. Its complicated. I would imagine Indian
Doctors are fine because We get them Here.

. . . the professional standards of people trained in government services abroad - like for instance justice services - are very likely much higher than the incompetent, inept, corrupt who-gives-a-damn standards of the current canadian regime . . .

What a stupid question. Professional degrees are evaluated by country and by specific degree. For example, a medical degree in country A may be excepted, while a structural engineering or architectural degree in country A may not be due to the difference in building codes. Also all degrees in country B may not be excepted for no reason other than that the country does not regulate their standards well enough.... even if that country does have an excellent education system on average.

Because not all countries have the same level of training that Canada does. In addition, if they are to practice in Canada, they must be very familiar with English or French. Not all foreign trained people are fluent in either of those languages.

I can't speak for Canada, but in the States, if the person can pass the local Medical Examinations, and prove the equivalent education, they can obtain a medical license. There are a LOT of foreign trained physicians in the US and in Canada.

some...not all...buy their credentials...why take a chance at all. It is the best interests of Canada to ensure that these people are educated to our standards and verified

I have worked with a lot of technical people from a lot of different countries and I can tell you from my experience, besides those people from the US and UK, they are NOT as well qualified as they claim and as their documents claim.

They most often do not understand the western work processes, they do not undertand contracting, they do not understand cold weather design considerations, they do not understand how westerners will behave under different circumstances, they do not undertand most of our codes or why they were developed or how to apply them, they do not often know how to work in teams (they cannot contribute), they do not or seem to never take initiative to take work to the next step, when they do the task they have been give to do, they just wait for the next instruction......etc...etc.

And as was mentioned above, they have difficulty communicating in english and asking them to write a report is almost hopeless.....
I don't want to leave the impression every immigrant is like this but my experience is that this is the case with most of them..

When you have to do a job within certain time/cost constraints, you are almost always best to use graduates from western countries, otherwise you cannot complete in the market place..

True. In some third-world countries, a person may be called "Doctor" simply because he knows how to bandage a wound or concoct an herbal brew for a stomach ache. But in Canada, he must be up to Canadian standards & qualified to competantly treat Canadian patients.
