during his visit to Canada this week? Is it a secret Masonic thing... or?? He'll be here Saturday. I feel like Marge Simpson waiting for Ringo Starr!

I think one of the poppies is Great Britian style and the other is Canadian style.

Correct. If he didn't wear both, people in either country would think he hates veterans and wants to see more of them killed.

I'm 34 years old. Some of my family died for beliefs greater than themselves. There is no "2 poppies" and i am insulted that he would try to patronize Canadian ideals such as "never again". Never I hope, has a Canadian soldier risked or given his/her life for a cause other than to help, and end suffering.

This is Canada, there are things done that need doing. Maybe I read too deep. The poppy means to me of sacrifice and the loss of life (needlessly) from both sides of a battle. I know of no soldier of the 2 major wars who relished in killing, and i have met a few.

This was the point of the poppy, children sent to war with ideas of serving king and country, the survivors feeling not so glorious. After their duty was fulfilled.

I feel that 2 poppies dishonours their sacrifice; the ones that survived and the ones that died.

Chucky will never be my king now....... What a goof......

It would have been appropriate had he thought of that.

I'm going to be poor if I see his face on one of my coins

There are no 2 poppies.

Sincerely

Brendan Rourke

He wore the two poppies to symbolize the poppy from his country and the poppy from Canada, he wore them out of respect for both countries while here visiting. While some people may think it could be considered as rude or just being politically correct, he did not want to offend anyone but rather honor all who's sacrifices pertained to "their" poppy. If you were offended, that's too bad but you needed to follow up more on the why and not just assume he is a goof.

Yes, I posted this exact message in reply to the exact same question in an earlier thread.

It was my understanding that the Windsors wore two poppies ... one to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in WWI, and the other to commemorate those who're dying today in more modern conflicts..... ???

Maybe Lizzie stole Harry's poppy (& the dude in the grey coat two behind Willie, she stole his too)!..... I think so, cos' she looks so smug......
either that, or she made Harry wear a coat that looks like a poppy itself, for forgetting his poppyness..... I dunno, the Windsor's are whacked!
