5% of Israeli population spoke Eastern Yiddish it in 1986, so not extinct yet. There are noe stimates for Western Yiddish

It's considered a DYING language. However, many Hasidic Jews in New York City and nearby areas speak it, and their numbers are increasing since they have large families. Who knows? It might see a revival someday as their population grows.
